Now available for children (ages 5-13) in the Education Building every Sunday, during the Service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Each week, two teachers guide ongoing lessons that combine Science of Mind Principles, Affirmative Prayer, The Virtues Project, fun arts and crafts projects, games and activities.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rev. Andy or Julie Cooke, Youth Church Director.  We look forward to providing your children with the gift of spiritual realization.

The child you have entrusted to our “junior church” is going to be learning about their special relationship with God. They’re also going to be experiencing an overview of the spiritual nature of the universe in which they, on a macro level, as well as a micro level, are part of.

Here is a summary of what they’ll be hearing:

What we believe in Centers for Spiritual Living:

We believe in God, the Divine, the Creative Force, the Living Spirit Almighty; One, indestructible, Absolute, and Self-Existent Cause. This One manifests Itself in and through all creation (including you), but it is not absorbed by its creation. The manifest universe (including you) is the body of God; it is the logical and necessary outcome of the Infinite self-knowingness of God.

We believe in the incarnation of Spirit in everyone, and that all people are incarnations of the One Spirit.

We believe in the eternality, the immortality, and the continuity of the individual soul, forever and ever expanding.

We believe heaven is within us (as our Divine birthright) and that we experience it to the degree that we become conscious of it.

We believe the ultimate goal of life to be a complete emancipation from all discord of every nature, and that this goal is sure to be attained by all.

We believe in the Unity of all Life, and that the Highest God and the Innermost God is One God.

We believe that God is personal to all who feel this Indwelling Presence.

We believe in the direct revelations of Truth through the intuitive and spiritual nature of the individual, and that any person (including you) may become a revealer of Truth who lives in close contact with the Indwelling God.

We believe that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through a Universal Mind, which is the Law of God; and that we are surrounded by this Creative Mind which receives the direct impress of our thought (consciousness) and acts upon it.

We believe in the healing of the sick through the Power of this Mind.

We believe in the control of conditions through the Power of this Mind.

We believe in the Eternal Goodness, the Eternal Loving-kindness, and the Eternal Givingness of Life (god) to all.

We believe in our own soul, our own spirit, and our own destiny; for we understand that the life of all is God.

What we will teach your children:

  • “Spiritual scripture” is more meaningful and powerful when experienced on a metaphorical level. We believe “personal meaning” is the highest meaning, with regard to “sacred” texts and philosophy.
  • Heaven and hell, a savior and a devil, are states of mind; not “real” places or deities.
  • We are all unified with God, not separate. There is no need for a bridge to be built to God, such as a “savior”.
  • Salvation, redemption, transformation, etc. are inside jobs (we each work out our own salvation –the Buddha).
  • Prayer is an affirming exercise.
  • Wisdom comes from the east, the west, first-nations, classic philosophy schools, literature, science, art, and anywhere else we can find it.
  • Truly loving themselves and others, is loving God.
  • The Universal Law of cause and effect (karma), emphasizing the effects of love and the effects of fear; that “good” and “evil” are not causes unto themselves, but rather affects of an expansive view of life, or a restrictive view.
  • The meaning of life is evolution -that evolution comes about through choice –and every living soul will work out their challenges and shortcomings through a journey to enlightenment.
  • No one is left behind, or damned, because “Life cannot be divided against Itself.”
