OUR SACRED COVENANT"The Light of the Body is the eye. If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light"- Matthew:6:22 Our Purpose is Light. Our Vision is illuminating and nurturing Spiritual Magnificence. Our Intentions for this Center are to recognize the Divinity in All; to grow in consciousness, expressing Love; to express the wisdom of our philosophy; to embody peace in all activities; and to be a Beacon of Light. With God all things are possible. Therefore, whatever the challenge or desire for change in our lives, there is always an answer, a way to move into a new experience. Spirit is limitless in terms of creative power. We use Spiritual Mind Treatment, focused affirmative prayer, as our way to confirm what we know is true, despite the appearance. We acknowledge our connection to God and know that we are co-creators in our lives. PRACTITIONERS

My practitioner work was done under Rev. Dr. Carolyn McKeown in Chico, CA. She gave me the lessons I needed to fine tune the principles of Science of Mind as it relates to living a spiritually guided life. The Practitioner class brought metaphysics to life for me, in a practical way. Rev. Dotty Page, Staff Minister/Practitioner
It was about ten years ago when I decided to be a Practitioner and took the class offered by Rev. Judith Churchman here in Paradise, CA. I was amazed when I realized what a huge responsibility I was undertaking and what every Practitioner assumes. It is a conscious decision to walk a sacred path of service to others. A wonderful part of being a Practitioner is that whenever you treat for someone, you are also treating for yourself, realizing the power and the Presence that is within all. My own health, wealth, expression and joy are benefited and all prayer lifts the consciousness of the whole planet. Being a Practitioner is very satisfying and fulfilling. It was the best decision I have ever made and I continue to love the work. Patricia Clark-Aris, Practitioner
In 1994, I was introduced to the Science of Mind philosophy by a dear friend; and, at the Center for Spiritual Living, Paradise, I found that I had come home to myself and to my spiritual family. This philosophy fit perfectly with what I knew and how I lived my life. I recognized that since God is all there is, everywhere present, it follows that the attributes of God - Peace, Power, Love, Light, Wisdom, Harmony and Joy – are mine also; and are the attributes of every human being on earth. Because we embody Gods’ attributes we can make choices to live the Spirit-filled life we desire. My extensive background in the world of academia, both in teaching and in study, and my career in criminal justice have enabled me to help promote the well-being of each and every person with whom I come in contact – to see the Truth of their being – and to recognize the God-within. For this I am so grateful! Namasté. Barbara Bell, Practitioner
During 1976, I awakened to a new way of living via the teachings of the Science of Mind and the inspiration of the author, Dr. Ernest Holmes. I call the next decade "walking my path and clearing the weeds" as I studied with Dr. Jay Scott-Neal and Dr. Carolyn Neal in the Fremont, CA Science of Mind Church. I achieved my Practitioner's credential in 1987 and in 1992 moved to Paradise, CA, where I joined the Science of Mind Church which became my community in Paradise. The experience of being a Practitioner has shown me the importance of keeping yourself on a spiritual path by living the Science of Mind Principles. As a Practitioner I have learned that as we each walk through "the shadow of the valley of death" we do not have to pitch our tent and linger there. We can leave the valley and reach the mountain top.

I have been a member of The Center for Spiritual Living in Paradise for 23 years. I live in the woods with my life partner, Roland, and a dog named Amazing Crazy Daisy Maize. The following is a quote from "The Tao of Healing" by Haven Trevino. I feel that this is a perfect description of who I am. "A simple person leading a simple life Knows true riches; Living her purpose, She's not compelled to devise a complicated And gaudy life. At peace with her many facets, She feels no need to wander about, Searching for what's inside. At home with the secrets of life, She practically ignores them Preferring to take life at it comes.Delighting in a kind gesture, A quiet moment with a friend, She knows her sphere of influence And fills it with light. With the gates of heaven in her hands She prefers to live and die right here; For, in all the universe, Here is where she serves. Blessings! Sheila MacDonald, Practitioner
In 1957 I attended my first Sunday service in Religious Science in Hollywood, CA. I remember the lesson was given by Dr. Robert Bitzer, a friend of the founder of the Science of Mind movement, Ernest Holmes, and a leader of great stature in Religious Science International. When I left church that Sunday, I liked what I had heard but did not understand much of it. It was new to me but I knew it resonated within me. It was 7 years later while living in Simi Valley, CA, that I attended my second church service and it all clicked. I was ready to discover more about me and this thing called Life. I enrolled in Science of Mind I Class and began studying this great philosophy. In 1975 I moved to Paradise, CA, discovered and joined the Paradise Church of Religious Science and began classes and practitioner training with Dr. John McKeown. I received my Practitioner license in 1983 and in 2001 was voted Practitioner of the Year by Religious Science International. Because of my extensive education in metaphysics I am a certified teacher and instruct SOM (Science of Mind) I and II classes. Being a licensed Practitioner is a great honor and very meaningful to me. It is my commitment to give the very best of myself to those who are desiring assistance with the challenges they are facing. I know from personal experience this philosophy gives me strength, perception and new ways of viewing and entering a new adventure. I am eternally grateful for being open at the top, stepping through the door of enlightenment and reaping the blessings which continue to come into my experience. Life is good to me and good for me and I embrace each day, with an open mind and heart, all the goodness which surrounds me. Kandie Lyn Stanford, Practitioner
I was led to this teaching in May of 2000 when I made the conscious decision to live a positive life. Each Sunday I learned new concepts to overcome the challenge with the emotional issues I was facing. From the time I walked through the doors of the Paradise Center of Spiritual Living I felt welcomed and loved. With the Sunday talks and the classes I have taken I have come to realize that I am created from Unconditional Love. This thought gave me permission to love myself first which enables me to share this Divine Gift with everyone I meet. I am honored to share the gift of affirmative prayer with all who seek my aid. I know you are a beloved child of Spirit and I send you Love and Light. Judy Torkelson, Practitioner
My first visit to our Center was in 1995. However, intuitively I have always been a meta-physician. I may not have called myself that as I studied other spiritual beliefs, but it is what resonates with my soul. I was brought up a Catholic and did all the usual things within that belief (baptism, first communion, confirmation) and although I loved the mystical aspects of Catholicism, it left me wanting more. The “more” I found within Religious Science. This philosophy woke me up to all the possibilities in the world. It woke me up to me as a spiritual being. It is all about choice and the power in that choice. I love being in a place where my clients know that I see the truth for them that allows them to see it for themselves. Healing takes place on all levels when that truth is revealed. We are not healers but we are lights that help point you in a direction of wholeness. Miracles are a natural occurrence. Blessings to all. Namaste'.

I saw Terry Cole-Whittaker on Sunday morning on TV in the 1970's, and realized I finally found a "philosophy", "religion", "path to God", etc., that I had been looking for all my life. The following week I joined the West Valley Church of Religious Science, and started taking classes. As a Catholic, I had had six children (that I adore), however there was much conflict in my mind and I was always seeking the "TRUTH". When I heard God was IN me, I no longer had to search outside of myself. Since moving to Paradise in 2005, I resumed classes, starting again with SOM (Science of Mind) 101. How fortunate I was that after taking all the classes I needed, I could be in the Practitioner Class. Hooray!!! I finally knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Knowing that we are all Perfect, Whole, Complete and Divine, means I can hold the truth for anyone who "forgets" and let the Spirit come" through" me to heal whatever situation seems out of balance. Gratefully, I release my Word into the Law of Mind, knowing it is so. And so it is.

I came to this center about six-and-a-half years ago with my husband, and we both immediately felt as if we had “come home.” This teaching at once seemed both mystical and to make perfect, logical sense to me. The doors this philosophy has opened in my life have led me to an amazing feeling of peace with myself, joy with Spirit and love for all in this beautiful universe. I feel my eyes have been truly opened to the Truth of all that is. I was “led” to my first class, the Quick Start class, with Reverend Dotty and Reverend Andy, the first summer we were at this center. From that point on, there has been no stopping me! I could not wait for each successive class to start, and have always looked forward to the next, and the next, and the next! I truly felt a calling to take the Practitioner class, for I really want to teach this philosophy to as many people as possible. This teaching has allowed me to recognize so many blessings in my life, and helped me make new decisions in “problem areas,” and I feel a compulsion to share this wonderful philosophy and way of life with others. While I definitely consider the Paradise Center to be my spiritual home, I also know that I am a sacred circle of one, because I am one with the whole, and my spiritual home is wherever I am, now and always. I hope I can help others find their own sacred circles.

I have been a Practitioner for our church, the Paradise Center for Spiritual Living, since 2003. It was a calling that I willingly took on because of my love for the philosophy that our church teaches. There is always a higher truth than what appears to be happening at the time and as a Practitioner I always go to that truth.
