Science of Mind® 100 SeriesScience of Mind (SOM) 100 series covers aspects of metaphysical thought, its principles, and practices. Students develop greater self-awareness, understanding of the nature of reality, how life has a spiritual basis, and learns techniques for inner and outer transformation. Four classes, each eight weeks in length, are offered. The dates and times of each class are determined locally, by your local Center for Spiritual Living spiritual community. The main text is The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes. (View complete text of the original edition on Google Books) SOM 100 may be taught in any combination of the following options to equal 80 hours. Any four units of 100 approved coursework may be taught to satisfy requirements. SOM 101 – The Spiritual Path (20 hours) SOM 102 – Spiritual Mind Treatment: The Nature of Effective Prayer (20 hours) SOM 103 – Building a Healing Consciousness (20 hours) SOM 104 – Principles of Successful Living (20 hours) Science of Mind® 200 SeriesThe SOM 200 series consists of four 20 hour units on various subjects. SOM 207, The Edinburgh Lectures and SOM 208, Emerson’s Essays are required for a practitioner license and entry into SOM 400. Text: The Science of Mind (1938) – Ernest Holmes SOM 201 – Mind/Body Connection: The Mind-Body Connection explores the connection between the mind and the body, using The Science of Mind and other more current materials. Special attention is paid to the recent interest in alternative medicine and holistic healing.
Science of Mind® 300 SeriesSOM 300 consists of 32 weekly classes divided into four terms SOM 350 (Practicum) consists of seven monthly meetings after the completion of 300 with a suggested three-month break between the two. Total 18 months Science of Mind® 400 SeriesThe purpose of this class is to train a student in effective leadership with an ability to relate the Principles of Science of Mind to everyday living and to express these principles in a clear, practical way to persons who are not familiar with them. On successful completion of this class, the student will be able to demonstrate:A clear understanding of the basic principles of Science of Mind and to relate these principles to the truth within traditional religious teachings, an ability to prepare a teaching outline for a class or formal lecture from material within the curriculum of ICSL and to conduct both a class and a formal lecture with clarity, conviction and authority, exhibit qualities of leadership in church operation, management, growth and expansion and the ability to clearly teach Science of Mind classes accredited by ICSL or non-accredited Religious Science classes |
